snap snap

Eva Kotakova

I went to the Biennial Exhibition at Liverpool TATE and found a new love.
Eva Kotakova. She made all these kids interview old people about their lives and made loads of work from it. There were sketch books made by the kids, audio recordings of the actual interviews and videos of the kids reading what the old people had said. She produced loads of drawings from the interviews, i don't really know what they are meant to mean but one of my tutors said that artists should expect people to interpret their work in whatever way they please. The way i see it, she seemed to have mixed up old and new, old and young. I did a sketch of my favourite example; a little boy sat inside the costume of the reaper as though it were a machine...

Bruce Nauman

I like your style, Brucey.
This is Claude Heath's image that I used as inspiration, by the way..

Unimpressive drawings from the first week of uni.

We had to "experiment with mark-making and try various drawing styles". Me, being me; lazy, decided to go for the messy and quick approach since I don't like pointless tasks. Having already done this in first year of college, it seemed like a waste of time but I quite like some of the results.

These ones are based on an artist called Claude Heath's style. Cool guy!
